Goodbye 2019

I’ve been doing a lot of thinking about beginnings and endings lately. Perhaps because there are so many occurring all at once at this moment of my life. I almost feel like there should be a video slide show music music of the year’s highlights. But not here. lol

Every year I feel like I didn’t really do much and then I make a list and am amazed at what has transpired in just one year. It’s like when I was walking the Camino: I stopped to look back at how far I had come. Yes, there was still a long way to go, but I needed to celebrate what I had accomplished so far (which was quite an uphill distance that day; my phone said I had done 150 flights – and there were no stairs!!). Seeing what I had done already gave me the oomph I needed to keep going. Hard to believe how far we’ve come.

So…what have I done this year? I created a graphic novel based on the book of Judith, which is being published and will be available on Amazon soon (yay!!). I finished four training or certification programs (whew!!) and all the work for my doctorate (yay and whew!). I designed and/or redesigned three curriculum books and developed two new online courses. My colleagues and I reconfigured our Anam Cara missional spiritual direction training program (exciting!!) I walked the Camino (fabulous!). I taught several in-person workshop series and did a whole bunch of spiritual direction and coaching sessions. I filled three art commissions, designed an escape room, and learned how to construct crosswords for the New York Times. And I think it was this year I finished a 5000 piece jigsaw puzzle. Maybe that was last year. I still feel the high.

So what’s in store for 2020? Good question. That painting (“Peace”) is a pathway (mine) and I am ready to move to the next panel. Whatever it is, it’s going to be amazing.
